The Hewitt Household: Merry Christmas 2012

This year Josh's parents joined us for Christmas at our house! Jeremy and Renee were on their honeymoon in Costa Rica and my family still has their traditions at home with the girls so we were glad to have them join us! We went to Mass at St. Michael's Christmas Eve and it was packed - luckily we got a seat in the last pew in one of the cry rooms.. lots of families.. lots of kids.. and it took some juggling to keep Hayley and Hudson content. We came home and had dinner, got the kids bathed and in their Santa PJ's and all opened up our new Christmas mugs for hot chocolate! We also had Grinch Punch (Sprite & Lime Sherbet) while watching 'The Grinch Who Stole Christmas'. Santa came to our house after Hayley finally fell asleep about 10pm. Cookies were left out for Santa - hand chosen by Hayley herself. Josh, Hudson, and Kayan were up early about 5am - I got up about 6:30.. and Hayley and Joe about 7:30 with some help from us! It was so fun to see Hayley's reaction to her stocking being full and gifts under the tree!! The kids opened their gifts from Santa and then we had breakfast - homemade cinnamon rolls that I attempted. Hayley loved her new vacuum and Hudson a mini-basketball hoop! Next we opened gifts with Joe and Kayan..more fun toys for the kids- we were all spoiled! Hewitts headed for home about 2:30 and then we stopped over at my aunt and uncle's house (Mag & Joe) and Josh's grandparents - for some family time - we ended the day with Jill & Jarod watching the kids and Josh and I going to a movie - perfect ending to a wonderful Christmas with both sides of the family. We are so thankful to celebrate Christmas with each other, two healthy children, and our families. It was fun to begin a few new traditions with our own little family! I would never have guessed that we would celebrate Christmas here on 24th street but it was a great one! Merry Christmas!
