Thanksgiving this year did not go as planned - but turned out just fine. We had planned on having Josh's family over to our house - Joe and Kayan, Jeremy and Renee, and Darrell and Marlene for a yummy meal (made by Kayan and Marlene) and relaxation - but Hudson changed our course of events having the flu on Wednesday! Poor guy had a long and rough day but was on the mend by Thursday. Thankfully no one else got that sickness but everyone was battling colds, coughing, and not 100% well. We decided it would be best (and smart) to cancel our plans so we didn't spread our germs to anyone.
Anyone who knows me knows I have a hard time with changing plans but Josh knew better and it turned out to be a nice day - we watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade - let the kids drink their Welch's wine from wine glasses - and I made up our pumpkin dump cake and a meal. Jill and Jarod were sweet enough to stop by on their way to Ida Grove and dropped off green bean casserole and ham!
Everyone took naps after we ate and then Kayan and I did a little Black Friday shopping Thursday night - got a jump start on Christmas shopping but haven't done much since!
So - we survived our first Thanksgiving on our own and got these little turkeys feeling much better by the weekend - just in time for Hudson's birthday party!
*Side note: Hazel came home from the hospital last year on Thanksgiving Day :)
