Well - Dad's 60th Birthday turned out nothing as we had planned. Grandpa Keane had a bad year health-wise - having surgery and many complications with a stroke, etc. We had planned to all fly out to Vegas for Dad's 60th but as Grandpa's health deteriorated we made the decision to stay close to home so that we were with mom, and mom was with her family during Grandpa's last days. Grandpa Keane passed away on Dad's 60th birthday. 8/31/2014. We were all thankful that we chose to stay in town but sad that our trip didn't take place as planned. We did, however, have a birthday celebration "Sioux City Style" for dad with dinner at Outback - a card shower from many family members, cake and ice cream at Grandma's house and then some gambling at the Hard Rock! Of course Dad could not be outdone - even on his own birthday! - and gave each of us some gambling money and an invitation to his party (which he was planning to give us at the airport!) So sweet, Dad.
We made the best of an emotional time for everyone.
Dad - I love you more than you will know. You are our rock and the absolute best Dad I could ever dream of. Sioux City/Las Vegas - I'm just glad we were all able to celebrate with you no matter where we were :)
