Hi Sweet Baby Hazel -
I write this as you sleep soundly on my chest and your brother and sister take naps in their rooms - Daddy is at work and the house is quiet - I've been trying to get my little blog caught up and finally have a few free moments and some quiet time to do so.
You are quite the little sweet pea. Mommy had high blood pressure toward the end of my pregnancy with you and went into the hospital at 35 weeks for observation - I only stayed overnight and was put on bed rest until you were to be born. Whoa! You were the first baby that I had had to be on bed rest with. Our family was so helpful and sweet with the whole situation. Your Grandpa and Grandma Kallin made sure that I was never alone just in case I would go into labor - We had meals brought over from great-grandparents and aunts and uncles and I did my best to stay off my feet and not lift Hayley or Hudson so that I could give you the rest you needed and we would hopefully make it to full-term. Your due date was December 16th!
Aunt Katie was in town staying with us the week of Thanksgiving - the beginning of my third week on bed rest. She helped me get the Christmas tree up on Monday - the 25th of November - we got some decorations out and she came along with me and daddy to my 37 week appointment. We found out that my blood pressure was very high at that time and I would need to head to St. Luke's to be observed again.
We got to the hospital and it wasn't long until it was determined that I was going into active labor all on my own - and that with my high blood pressure they would not try and stop the contractions but we would welcome you into this world! I was scared, excited, and relieved as I hugged your daddy with tears rolling down my cheeks - it was time to meet our little Hazel!!!
We got situated into our room and everybody began arriving! Grandma Kathy arrived first; then Grandpa John, and Grandma Kayan and Papa Joe - Kimberly, Katie, and Jill also came to the hospital and brought along Hayley and Hudson.
Mommy was in labor from about 1pm until 11:59pm when you made your entrance into this world! You surprised us all with your beautiful dark hair and also your weight - I was expecting you to weight around 6lbs and was shocked when the nurse told us you weighed 4lbs. 15oz! You were tiny but healthy and absolutely perfect!
We stayed in the hospital one extra night because of your glucose number needing to be over 50 but we got it where it needed to be and went home on Thanksgiving Day! (Nov. 28). Daddy was with us in the hospital the whole time but worked on Thanksgiving since I had to be off or work two weeks more than we had planned. Your daddy is such a hard worker and provider for all of us :)
We were so excited to have you home!! Your brother and sister just adore you - All of a sudden they seem so much bigger and older - we have been trying our best to keep everybody happy spending time holding and snuggling you and having some one on one time with Hayely and Hudson too -
We are now a family of five. Wow! How did we get so lucky to be the parents of three beautiful, healthy babies. I could not ask for anything more.
We love you sweet girl and are so blessed to have you in our lives.
