New Job!

This past week I accepted a new position as Director of Development & Community Engagement at the Norm Waitt Sr. YMCA. I have been looking for a new job since I completed my MSAS in December 2011 both to advance my career and to provide more for our family with my education goals behind me. Although this is something Josh and I have wanted to happen for a while it was a difficult decision to finally decide to leave United Way and take that leap of faith to something new and unknown. I have prayed that life put the options meant for me before me and for me to know which way to go and I feel that I made the right decision for me, Josh, Hayley, and Hudson.

United Way was my first job. I moved to Sioux City after graduating from UNI and began as Campaign & Communications Associate; in February of 2012 I was promoted to Campaign & Communications Manager. May 27th would have been 5 years already! The wonderful staff, especially my supervisor, Heather, and the family-friendly work environment have been ideal with, Josh traveling for his job the past four years, and the birth of our two kids and all of the unexpected that comes along! I am so appreciative to have had such a great experience at United Way and know that everything I have learned both working with Heather, staff, volunteers, and on my own will propel me to success in this next job.

I am looking forward to new challenges, new relationships, getting in shape :), having the kids involved in activities, and helping allow us to get into our permanent family home - something Josh and I have been working toward the past three years as we have fixed up our own home, and our rental homes. It feels like we are finally "there" - the comfortable place we have been trying to get to for some time and it feels great!

Although change is never easy, it is something that Josh has experienced with his job at MidAmercian and now it's my turn.

We are both VERY thankful for where we are and looking foward to what our future holds!
